NEVER use all caps. It tends to PISS PEOPLE OFF.
Always read the boards as soon as you log on.
Since you can't see what your stats are until level 5,
you should work on getting there first. A good weapon that is easy to find is a
Warhammer. Also good, but more difficult for a new
player to aquire are Finely Crafted Axes (now running
at about 30-40 Gold Crowns) and Bone-Crushing Mattocks.
For your first few characters, you should go with absorbtion for your equipment.
Absorbtion just means how much damage you take when you get hit out of how much
damage you would take if you were naked. You can see what your abs are at
currently by typing stat. It is at the bottom and says:
"Your armor absorbs xx% on th average. Abs are a lot easier to get ahold of and
use than dodge or combo. The highest you can go is 82%, but for now just try
and get around 50-60%. You will want at least a Thick Mail
Shirt, so once you get enough money, head down to the ol'
Armory (either one).
If your first stats aren't very good, you can try again. Put
all of the equipment you have gathered in a few Sacks
or a Backpack and hide them
somewhere out of the way of things. Then quit with
that character and wait five minutes. Then start a new
character and go to the place you hid your stuff. Retrieve it by typing
search sack or search pack until
you get it all. Then wear it all and stat the new
character.
The best place to start out from is the city of Caemlyn.
This can be reached by typing down or
d from the Circle of Light.

Start with a human. There's a reason it says "Experienced
Players Only" next to the "Trolloc" option.
Start with a ranger. This will get you used to the game, and they are the best
class for just playing. The country doesn't matter.
Before anything else, practice ride to Level 3. This is
the one skill that almost everyone has, and almost everyone needs (with the
exception of Trollocs). Level 3 will insure that you can fight while riding a
horse. Ride can be practised
at the Ranger Practice Area.
Every time you level, practice a weapon (the same one each time) until you have
99%. Weapons can be practised
at the Warrior Practice Area.
Group with another player whenever you can. Not only will
the leader get extra experience, but you can team up to kill things neither of
you could do alone. The buddy system works! To group, have one player
follow or fol another player. Then, the player
who is being followed need to type group all or
group playername.
One of the best places for newbies to hunt is the area south of Caemlyn. Leave
through the South Gate. Wander the hills and forest, killing what you can. To
see how tough something is, type con creaturename. Be
careful. At low levels, you can die after only a couple hits.
The Braem Wood is another good place. The one north
of the Caemlyn Road west of
Four Kings, that is.
