That is all I have atm. I'll get the others in a while.
The very best place for a lowbie to level up is the Lugard Treedoor area.
Just kill the boars and bobcats, and elk does/elks when you can.
Another good thing to do is go approximatly 5 or so south of the room e
of the end of the lugard road (near the treedoor) then east a few. There are
plenty of hogs around here to kill.
Also good are the hills just west of Lugard. Kill goats and elks and sheep
and such. Just wach out for the big cats.
A good place to go is just across the Manetherandrelle from the hills.
Kill all the bobcats, but don't venture too far south. Doing this will get
you into an area inhabited by large bears and lions.
If you are a midbie or a highbie with little time, these are good places
to go.
The Plains of Altara, southwest of the bridge across the Manetherandrelle
from the hills. There are a bunch of cats and bears to kill.
2s, all w, s, all e of the bridge are two ancient trees. These are among
the best exp. in the game.
All southwest on the Plains of Altara is the Old Bridge. Across it, in the
Waterwood are some boars and a few more trees.
East of Lugard is also a nice hunting place. Just east and south are many
elks and a few cats. Further southeast are a bunch more cats and bears.
If you follow the road/path east from Lugard, you will wind up on the Plains
of Maredo, another good exp place. There are many cats and bears, as well as
a pride of one lion and several lionesses. Be careful. Unless you have at
least three level 20+s, these lionesses will pound on you. Be forewarned...
they also track.
North and east or west of Tar Valon is another decent place to hunt. These
plains contain many cats and bears. The main problem with hunting here is
that you must be on the lookout for trollocs. They frequently come through
this area.
By far the best place to hunt is Yandor. Unfortunatly, I am not wholly
sure how to get here. It might be this way: Go to the room "Nearing Devon's
Ride." Go 2n, 2w, 2n, 2e, 2n, open bark. There are tons of Ancient Trees
and cats and bears. There is even a pride.
And finally, the Almoth Plain is good. There are several prides, as well
as the usual bears and big cats. Maybe even some ancient trees as well.
Get to at least level 20 before doing any playerkilling. This will insure
that you have at least 20 seconds to live before you lose all your eq (just
kidding, you should have time to run).
Know the area you are pking in. I once died to *Dorgo*
because I got lost and ran out of moves.
If you are using dodge/parry equipment, get kick.
You can then drain your opponent of moves, and they won't be able to
flee or follow you if you have to run.
If you are using absorbtion gear and have a big heavy weapon like a
Bone-Crushing Mattock, Seanchan Longblade, Great Claymore, Bronze-headed War
Axe, Enourmous Two-handed War Axe, or a Dark Grim Axe get
bash. You can knock you opponents down, and they won't get up or hit
you for two rounds, allowing you to hit them harder than normal, run away, or
bash them again.
Work to get the best equipment possible. If you are Abs, this consists of: a
Shining Steel Breastplate, Strange Insectoid Helm, Thick
Metal Boots, Heavy Metal Gauntlets, Ebony-steel Plate Vambraces, and Ebony-steel
Greaves.
I am very sorry, but I have no real idea about dodge or combo gear. I do know
that Dark Gloves are the best, and that a Black
Veiled Shoufa is your best bet headwise. Also, a
Silver-etched Shield is the best for Shield Parry. Earthen Breeches are
the best dodge pants. Also, Ivy Bracelets are best wrist trinkets.
Basic equipment is always available at the many stores and shops around WoTMUD.
Only buy eq there if you have just died and need a quick fix, or if you spot a
piece of eq that is better than what you have.
A lot of equipment is dropped in Fal Dara after
every trolloc raid, and there is usually a lot there anyway.
Much of the best equipment can be found on
Supermobs.
If worst comes to worst, and you need a good piece of gear, offer to buy it
on chat. This is often VERY expensive, but you'll probably get the gear.
Heavy Metal Gauntlets and Thick Metal Boots may be found here: Go to Emond's
Field. Go west along the Quarry Road, then south, then as far west as you can,
until you can go up. Open mossy, then go down. There are Blood Worms here. Kill
them, then open crystaldoor. East is a Gray Man. He is not that easy. Kill him
and open trashpile. Up there will be heavy Metal Gauntlets, Thick Metal Boots,
and a Spiked Flail. BE CAREFUL. THERE ARE DEATHTRAPS AROUND
THIS AREA. I HAVE NOT HAD THE OPPURTUNITY TO CHECK THIS PATH OUT.
Feel free to disabuse me of my notions here. A lot of the best stuff is clan gear,
and I don't know about that. I only want the top three items in each category.
I have also listed some chat prices that I know. These
are the approximate going prices, and I have listed the highest I have seen for
an item also. To see a list of clan gear, type trade
while in the same room as a Well-travelled Merchant.
